Know Your Kindred – Harry Reese

Name: Harry Reese
Clan: Gangrel antitribu
Generation: 8th
Embraced:  Late 20th Century

Harry Reese was a husband and father whose life was forever changed while on vacation.  His family was attacked in their car by a Sabbat pack called The Dead Gypsies.  The Gypsies needed more recruits for a fight they were about to have with a rival pack and Harry, his wife and their 17 year old son were Embraced and given the Creation Rite, but it would only be Harry who emerged from the ground.

It was a year before Harry was finally accepted as a True Sabbat.  But Harry proved himself to be a skilled warrior, planner and diplomat.  He almost saw his Final Death during the Sabbat Civil War and was glad to see the war end.  But the Gypsies’ leader still wanted to continue the fighting, despite the peace.  Harry challenged him to a duel under Monomacy and won – making him the new pack leader.  Now he seeks to bolster the sect’s power and influence and has even joined the Black Hand to help in any way he can.

Harry looks to be about 45 years old.  He carries a sawed-off shotgun with silver bullets, a bulletproof vest and drives a 1949 Indian Chief in mint condition.

Know Your Kindred – Janey Pickman

Name:  Janey Pickman
Clan:  Gangrel
Generation:  8th
Embrace: Late 19th Century

Janey sought out vampires ever since she heard stories about them from her grandmother.  She looked long and hard for one.  When she finally found a Gangrel, she pleaded with him to let her come along on his travels.  He decided to give her a chance if she could survive the battles soon to come.

Janey proved she was tough as nails in battle and was Embraced soon afterwards.  She has been devoted to her bestial undead lifestyle ever since.  When her sire died in combat, Janey moved on, joining the Boot Hill gang.  She has never regretted the decision.

Janey is anything but soft.  Her red hair and freckles might mislead you to think she’s delicate, but years of hard labor on the farm gave her corded muscles and a lean frame.  Despite being undead, she still has her sun tan left over from her mortal days.  She usually wears women’s clothing, but has altered her dresses to allow her easy access to her six shooters.

Know Your Kindred – Celeste Lamontagne

Name:  Celeste Lamontagne
Clan:  Country Gangrel antitribu
Generation:  9th
Embrace:  1979

Celeste was a wildlife expert who was Embraced by a Gangrel because of her almost religious appreciation for nature.  A dedicated Harmonist, Celeste believes Cainites should accept their natural place as predators and not kingmakers.

In 1983 she befriended some Sabbat in Montreal, whose philosophies jibed with hers.  Celeste has become extremely loyal to them and is fond of wrecking Camarilla plans (she considers the Cams the worst of all power mongers).

Celeste feels trapped in the city and spends much of her time roaming between the forests of Quebec, Ontario and New York State.  She is allies among the Country Gangrel and clashed with the Camarilla Gangrel.  She is also friendly with many Werewolves.  During her last excursion in Garou territory she shared a night of passion with her Lupine guide, Jeremy Swiftrunner.  When Celeste emerged from the ground the next night, Jeremy was gone and the scent of shame hung in the air.

Celeste gained some followers as leader of the alternative band “Wyldchylde.”

Celeste is a feral beauty,  She is tall, muscular and always ready to burst into action.  She bears the marks of multiple frenzies, including pointed ears and eyes that reflect light.

Note:  On two occasions, Celeste has assumed the Lupine “wolf-man” form while lost in battle fury.

Know Your Kindred – Viktor, The Night General

Name:  Viktor, General of the Army of the Night
Clan:  Gangrel
Generation:  6th
Embraced:  3 BC

When the legendary Nosferatu Baba Yaga awoke from torpor, she declared war on the rest of the world and summoned back her immortal minions to her side.

Viktor is the leader of Baba Yaga’s Army of the Night.  The Army is composed of 25 vampires, including Viktor.

Viktor had served Baba Yaga a thousand years before she entered torpor and his loyalty earned him a special place in her eyes.  Although he is old and tired, he serves the Hag with a zeal reserved for fanatics. Rumor has it he ripped apart his own childe for not showing proper respect to the Hag.

The only thing that rivals his love for Baba Yaga is his respect for the Garou.  In another life he could have befriended them.  He sometimes shows leniency to the Garou in battle, something Baba Yaga does not know and would be very displeased with if she found out.

But Viktor’s respect for the Garou would be his undoing.  While on a mission in St. Petersburg, the White Nights began – an annual event each June when the Sun shines day and night in Northern Russia for three weeks straight.  To avoid the Sun, Viktor ordered his men to Earth Meld into the land.  There was a worry that the Garou would discover them sleeping and take advantage of the situation.  But Viktor believed the Garou were too honorable to attack a sleeping foe – He was wrong.

About a dozen local Lupines sensed the enemy in the land and they unearthed and destroyed Viktor and most of the Hag’s army. When Viktor awoke he flew into a wild frenzy, killing three Garou before the rest took him down.  As they tore his head from his body he screamed obscenities at them and cursed them, “You have no nobility to attack a sleeping foe!”  Even after his body crumbled to dust his disembodied head could be heard muttering “Forgive me Little Mother. I could not find it.”  The event was thereafter known as the White Nights Massacre.

Viktor was a tall, dark man in perfect shape. His glare was intense and commanding.

Know Your Kindred – Hukros

Name:  Hukros
Clan:  Gangrel
Generation:  4th
Embrace:  Unknown

It was Hukros who developed the Path of Lilith 1,200 years ago in Africa.  While exploring ruins and collecting artifacts of vampire lore, he encountered a cult of mortals who knew the secrets of the Kindred and guarded a collection of ancient writings known as the Cycle of Lilith.

Hukros and his minions attempted to steal the writings, but were defeated by the cult’s demons.   Hukros managed to escape and told others of his experiences.  Soon curious Kindred joined him and sought the writings in other places.

Followers of the Path of Lilith (aka Lilins) believe all supernatural beings (werewolves, mages, vampires, etc.) were born of Lilith.  They believe Lilith was the first vampire, not Caine.  The Lilins have their own secret libraries, said to contain ancient artifacts of vampire lore that link Lilith to the Kindred, including writings that claim during the time of the First City Caine was Lilith’s lover and king by her decree.  Lilins also believe to fully explore all their vampiric disciplines.

Other Kindred think them fools and debate between the followers of Lilith and Caine grew so heated that neither side is willing to share their discoveries with the other side, instead hoarding the information amongst themselves.

Know Your Kindred – Dr. Allan Woodstock

Name: Dr. Allan Woodstock
Clan:  Gangrel
Generation:  10th
Embraced:  1916

Dr. Woodstock was a researcher at Cambridge University with a wife and young daughter.  When World War I broke out he was drafted into the armed forces and rushed into a military lab, where he helped refine and develop mustard gas and other chemical weapons.  His commanding officer was unsatisfied with testing the gases on animals, so he ordered Woodstock to test them on some of their own wounded men.  Woodstock’s conscience would not allow him to carry out that order, so he was demoted and sent out with the infantry.  At the Battle of Verdun, Sergeant Woodstock died.

A scavenging Gangrel found him on the filed.  Dr. Woodstock does not remember his sire and wonders what made him stand out from the other soldiers dying on the battlefield.  The Kindred blood filled Woodstock’s broken body and gave him the strength to sink deep into the ground.  When he reemerged, the war was now over, and his wife had remarried, which was probably for the best.

Dr. Woodstock took refuge in his science and over the years focused on the strange magical abilities possessed by vampires.  He’s tried to define Disciplines precisely, mathematically, scientifically.  He has blinded young vampires and Embraced the congenitally blind to compare how they adapt to the Protean Discipline.  He has Embraced and ghouled identical twins and studied their learning speed and skills.  His experiments with human and Kindred subjects has been of much interest to the princes and elders.  As such, Dr. Woodstock has good relations with the Camarilla and the princes.

The subject of his most recently completed experiment is a young Toreador named Anna.  Dr. Woodstock watched her grow from infancy to a beautiful woman and onto a vampire.  He’s spent a king’s ransom keeping her alive.  Her sire wanted to invoke the right of destruction, but Woodstock can not imagine his life without her.

Dr. Woodstock’s appearance has degraded over the years.  His left leg now bends backward at the knee like a hind leg of an animal.  His torso is covered with a patchwork of fur.

Know Your Kindred – Enkidu, The Noah

Name:  Enkidu
Clan: Gangrel
Generation: 4th
Embraced: 2200 B.C.

Enkidu is on the Camarilla’s Red List for killing many Kindred over the years.  The Camarilla does not consider Enkidu anything more than a wild animal, otherwise he would rank higher on the list.  But the one the Gangrel call “the Noah” is not a wild beast, he is the caregiver to many strange and exotic animals living within him.

Enkidu was entrusted with this task by Gangrel herself, who had been storing inside her flesh the Typhonic Beast – a malicious creature created by the Egyptian god Set.  The Antediluvian had been storing it and other rare creatures in her body and now they would be given to Enkidu’s care.

After a century of training, the Antediluvian passed the creatures onto Enkidu. But the Typhonic Beast is evil and Enkidu had a difficult time keeping the animal tamed within his huge bulk.  The Typhonic Beast uses Auspex at all times to call out to Set’s followers.  It wasn’t long before the Setties came looking for their pet.  The Gangrel’s home city of Ur was destroyed and Enkidu has been wandering the Earth ever since.

Enkidu kills humans and vampires without remorse.  He uses their blood to feed the ghouled creatures inside him.  But he keeps the Typhonic Beast starved, in order to keep it weak and manageable.  Enkidu has learned that he must keep a hold on his humanity if he is to keep the Typhonic Beast contained.  As such, a part of Enkidu’s mind has splintered off into a female form called Sabrina.  He can transform himself into this form to maintain a mental grasp on human concepts.   While in his Sabrina form, he goes into the cities and searches for any Setties in the area.  Then he’ll come back later in his Enkidu form to hunt them down.

In life Enkidu hated his own race, who he saw as greedy and arrogant.  He found solace only with animals.   That has continued in his unlife.  He has compassion for uncivilized creatures and sees civilization as a monstrosity.  He detests the noise and pollution they create.  He avoids the Werewolves, except for the city-dwelling Glass Walkers.

Enkidu stays just outside of cities, so he has a supply of Kindred blood available to feed his creatures.  He often uses zoos as havens, staying near other large animals like elephants and rhinos.  Many of his creatures hunt with him during the night and act as guardians during the day.  But the Typhonic Beast is kept on a tight leash at all times.

In his bitterness for safeguarding the Typhonic Beast, Enkidu has thought about killing it, but he has compassion for the creature and instead transfers blame to the Setties, believing if they are all destroyed the beast will no longer be corrupt.  The Setties consider Enkidu one of their primary objectives.   He holds prisoner a creature they believe will lead them to their dark god.  Enkidu’s hatred for them has grown to new depths and hunting them became an obsession.

The Gangrel are Enkidu’s biggest political foe.  They urged the Camarilla to put Enkidu on the Red List and are now lobbying to move him further up the list.  There is a split with the Gangrel elders over Enkidu’s value.  Some only seek Enkidu for the vampires he’s killed while others seek the unique creatures locked inside his flesh.

Due to Enkidu’s enhanced Animalism, he is extremely attractive to animals.  He can communicate with all animals and can summon all animals near him.

Enkidu is a gigantic creature who takes on a new form every night.  His Sabrina form is a young woman with short black hair and disturbing green-blue eyes.  She dresses in whatever clothing she can find after emerging as the dominant personality.

Know Your Kindred – Fakir Al Sidi

Name:  Fakir Al Sidi
Clan:  Gangrel
Generation:  4th
Embraced:  Unknown

According to legend, the Laibon descend from Fakir Al Sidi, who the Assamites speculate was an undocumented Methuselah.

It is believed that Fakir migrated down to the African desert, where he Embraced just one childe, Kamiri wa Itherero, and taught him the magics of blood and earth.  Thus the Laibon was formed.  Only 10 Laibon are known to exist.  They remain loyal to one another and do not create childer on a whim.  Their hierarchy follows typical tribal structure.
